Romeo and Juliet in North Adams, MA. Which is all right. I'm just confused, as I originally intended on auditioning for Mercutio, then the director, in mass enthusiasm, had me read for Friar Laurence, who I read extensively at callbacks with her extreme approval. However, my original fears of reading for Friar Laurence came true, as she told me today I would have been cast as him had I not been so young. So I'm Benvolio, whom I like (as he is a peacemaker, or attempts to be) and can work with. My only pet peeve about Benvolio is, even though he is in a great deal of the first half of the play, he mysteriously disappears for the second. Ah, well. So I've been cast as Benvolio in a production of |
And though it is the oft-over-dramatized Romeo and Juliet, it's still Shakespeare. And I haven't acted in over a year, so I'm a little bit excited about it.
So if anybody'd like to drive to North Adams later this summer and watch me break up fights, convince Romeo that there are plenty of other fish in the sea, and play Mercutio's straight man, you're more than welcome to.
